Parking Solution

 Parking is a big issue at Santa Fe College.The best option the school has with the size it is, is to build a parking garage. This solution can reduce traffic issues and make the school's parking problems less of an issue.This issue can cause problems for not only students but other drivers who are not going to the Santa Fe Campus or involved with Santa Fe.  But there are several Solutions to this problem that can help reduce this traffic.  It is very obvious that there are way more students with cars than there are parking spots for them.  This can be seen by students parking on the grass or other spaces that are not actual parking spaces.  Building a parking garage will increase parking spaces available for everyone and it would be easy to multiply the number of spaces by simply building up rather than out.  The problem with  this solution is that chances are that people will be charged for the garage in order to pay for it. Also during it construction there would be even less parking than usual.  Or because of the tight spaces acciedents may be more common.  BUt there is alot of good things that can go with having a parking garage.

Exercise 15.7

The traditional lecture method of education has a number of problems. For example the lecture method does not usually keep the students involved and students may miss, or misinterpret certain notes. In addition, being present is crucial for the professors, so if something happens for professors and he/she cannot make it to class students would miss one complete section which makes professor to do a makeup section for students, and not to mention that makeup sections are always hard to be arranged.Making a lecture available as podcasts, however, will give students extra study notes just in case they left out something important that would be on the exam.There are three reason this teaching method should be adopted.One reason is that freshman students or students who need to listen to lectures more than once would be able to do that.Another reason is that some students just do not take good notes.Finally, it makes the whole experience easier and more convenient for students overall. For these reasons I believe podcasts should be utilized throughout all colleges and even for High schools.

Exercise 15.1 Obesity

Thesis: Because many Americans are obese, the government should require warning labels on all sugared cereals.

Much like cereal, especially children's cereal, sodas are loaded with sugar to make them more appealing to the taste. The extremity of these sodas are compared to cigarettes in the way that the need warning labels because they are very harmful to the health. Sodas and sugared cereals both contain many sugars and sugar consumption has been scientifically proven to have a strong correlation with cancer, just like cigarettes and people need to be aware.

Proposal Argument

            In today’s America, society has many issues involving obesity, which is essentially leading to a general downfall in every aspect. For example, when people become obese, they generally start to become lazier whether they are at work or at home.  Moreover, this leads to a negative effect for America because if they are getting lazier and slower at work, we will be less efficient as a country. Speaking out against obesity and trying to improve it, however, may cause issues because people may feel offended or they just won’t be willing to fix it because they are happy with the way they are. There are reasons that these changes should take place in society. One reason is that America is known as the “fattest” country because America has a higher percentage of obese people in the population in the entire world. Secondly, America is trying to become more economically and industrially independent, requiring more workers that are quick and agile and not slow and obese. Finally, following obesity, are extreme health risks that are quick killers for people who do not care to watch their weight. Some people blame genetics for obesity, but it has to start somewhere. For these reasons, I believe that obesity is a huge issue in society and should be helped and noticed as a big deal.

"Structuring a Proposal Argument"

There are very many students that attend Sante Fe college, but there isn't enough parking spots to support them all. If we open another overflow of parking spots, then students won't waste their time looking for a spot all morning. This makes students late to class and is just very irritating to deal with. Their is another area next to Sante Fe in which we could set up another parking lot, in doing so there would be much more spaces for students and this problem would diminish. Many students would agree that this is a major problem and would support the problem being fixed. The lot next to the school could be made into another area in which students could park, this way students wouldn't have to deal with this constant problem of finding a parking spot. Student drivers would be more careful driving at school and not so angry to waste time looking for a spot. It was also let students arrive on time for class and reduce any problems in the parking lot. However this may cause a money issue, it could be said we don't have the money to build a parking lot at this time. Building a new lot would save time for students and decrease the amount of angry drivers. This way students arrive on time for class and are prepared to learn for the day.

Excercise 15.7

In addition, You could miss certain information that will not be repeated and won't have another chance to note it. Making lectures available as podcast, however, would make it more possible for students to see this lecture multiple times, and be able to study it more. There are three reasons that this teaching method should be adopted. One reason is that it will help students with their grades being able to view the lecture multiple times and get to study the information. Another reason, is that you wont miss anything. Because it will be easier to access since its not a one time lecture in person. Finally, You can watch the lecture on your own time so you are not late to class or if your sick or tired and not paying attention you have a chance to watch it when you are ready. For theses reasons,i believe that lectures should be made available on podcasts.

I used Wikipedia as the bad source because while i was evaluating the source i found very little information on Medical Marijuana. The source came up with barely five sentences. On top of that they had no sources that were reliable or any reliable doctors, scientists or research to cite their findings. Wikipedia already is a very unreliable source considering anyone can edit the pages, so i was not expecting it to provide any good information.
The other site i chose to evaluate provide very good and reliable information. They are a government approved site and had great citations and places to check their sources. They update daily and leave that very easy to find at the bottom of the page. They have many other places to find lots of information on the subject and have government information on their page. I would definitely recommend using this site for any research on Medical marijuana.

1. I would check her Journal post for her citations or her sources. Then once i found them i would check them out online to see if they were reliable and find where she got her statistics. I would also check to see if she had any grammatical or spelling errors in her piece to make sure she had it reviewed before posting.
2. I would check her references in the blog to make sure she accurately recorded her findings. Then check her field and see if she comes up online.
3. I definitely believe it is because she does not include much prior information on the subject. Many people comment whether they agree or disagree so they are already aware of employers checking facebook's of their employees.
4. I think she provides good information that can be debated, but she does not properly cite her information or give quality websites where i can check her statistics. That being said i do not believe it is a suitable research source.
5. It tells that many people have looked into this research and support both sides. People commenting provide evidence where employers can view these sites and some provide information of them not being able to view these pages. It shows a good amount of people on both sides for and against this topic.

I compare to website about the movie star Denzel Washington. The first link is from Santa Fe’s library website. Since this is an academic website, it contains accurate and reliable information. In fact, his biography has been updated few days ago. The author, the work cited and all references are accurate in this link. There is no advertising, sponsor, or political organization that support this webpage so this count as an objective webpage. The information in this page is totally comprehensive and complete. It is even concludes Denzel Washington’s address!
On the other hand, the name of the other webpage is gossip so it shows not all information in this webpage have to be true .The ads are all around the page and distract reader from the main subject. There is no work cited, related link to the subject in this link. the main subject on the second link is a factual error which incurrence the webpage completely

1. The steps that I would take to determine whether Elefant's information is accurate is to check to see if there were any false statements made. Since she references many things, I would check to see if her references are credible or not. And also check to see if she cited any of her sources that she used in her article.

2. To go about determining whether or not Elefant is respected in her field I would most likely search her name on the internet and see what all she does and her accomplishments if there are in. Secondly, I would go to her "about me" tab on her blog to see if there are things written that point towards her being well respected.

1.) To verify her information, I would look up all of the sources she has listed for accuracy. She lists information from Financial Week and New York Daily News as well as a study from the Vault.

2.) From this article alone it's hard to judge whether or not she is respected in her field, I did a little sleuthing around the internet and found some information about her. It seems that she was among the first in the legal professional to become involved online.

3.) I think her blog post is written for people with at least some knowledge of the subject. While she does give some background information, she doesn't hold the reader's hand as she discusses the topic.

4.) I don't believe that this is a reliable source for research because she doesn't explicitly give links for her sources for one. I'd probably look up those sources she mentions and see if they were worth using.

5.) The blog comments seem to show various degrees of knowledge about the subject.

1.      1. For checking accuracy of Carolyn Elefant’s article, the first step is to check if she has any  factual error on her article. Second, I will check her article’s references. She references too many different thing, I will check to are these references are creditable source of reference of not. Next, I will check to see if she has a work cited, or if she has written references or link for the references that she makes. I probably going to Google those references and some of the main statement and statistics that she uses on her article to make sure they are verifiable.

2.     2.   I will check the “about us” on her weblog to know her professionally, and her experience. Is her professionally is relevant to her article? Is the next question I will look for in order to check the credibility of her article, and to find out the article is respected to her field or not. If I could not find any accurate information about her, and the way she did her research, I will not count her article as a reliable source. For this matter, I also will check the way an article could be submit in her blog. Does it need to be refereed?

1:  I would look up articles about employers using social networking sites for background check as well as the laws protecting peoples' privacy and the laws about discrimination.  Elefant also mentioned a survey done by a company called The Vault i would look up this survey to make sure they got their information right.

2:  Check her  previous blog posts and responses to those post to see how people react to her, whether they respect her or just bash or call her out of what she has said.

3:  I would have to say no, that anyone could read this and understand it.  But, the only reason i say this is because I have no knowledge about this subject and i understand it.

4:  I think it would be a suitable research source because she doesn't really give her opinion she just states facts about the subject and what is going on, or that's how it seemed to me, seeing as it is a blog post it could be biased to her opinion.

The web page from wikipedia i decided to do was on Random Access Memory, or RAM.  For those that may not know exactly what ram is a form of computer data storage.  A random-access device allows stored data to be accessed in very nearly the same amount of time for any storage location, so data can be accessd quickly in any random order.  I read through everything on the web page and as far as i can see everything seems to be correct.  It correctly lists the different types of RAM as well as what RAM does and the history of RAM(where it came from and everything like that).  Even reading through the page multiple times and checking some of the history that i don't know about it everything seems to be good, i can't find any mistakes, that doesn't mean there aren't any it could just mean i don't notice them cause i already understand what it is talking about but either way I couldn't find anything.

 Well I graduated class 02-09, I would rate it at 97% correct.

 The history is there and to my knowledge correct.  They break each phase of the school down into the basic schedule of what the students go through on a week to week basis.  The basic over view of everything is there but some of the numbers from my experience there do not match up it claims rucksacks at 65-90lbs during mountains we had a minimum of 100lbs and up to 127 at the highest, we had access to a scale before the field training exercise ( FTX) began.  They also claim an avg of 3.5 hours of sleep which is correct but it does not explain while on FTX students at most are allowed 2hours and while in garrison during school time they receive 3/5 hours.   Wikipedia does not do a good job at explaining that it is a school and the things that you are required to complete are taught there it’s a school primarily for combat MOS people so it helps to have a base line of the types of missions the students will be required but each phase you are taught everything they ask you to do in the FTX.  They do not mention the difference in classes based on the time of year you attend the course.  The agenda's and tasks each student must complete are the same however the time of year based on the weather heavily influence the challenge of the course based on what you need to be prepared for and what as far as health you have to be concerned with for example in the winter you have to be aware of hypothermia as well as heat casualties and in the summer you have to be concerned with heat casualties and insects like brown recluse spiders.  Regardless the wiki is over all very accurate for a base line of information about the course.

Lower Order Concers

The three lower order concerns I think I need to address most in my second essay are word choice, spelling and sentence structure.  In order to help prevent these mistakes from making into the final copy of my essay I plan on making a list of things I miss commonly and go back through my essays and check them against the list to make sure I have not made the same or similar mistakes.  I will also probably be questioning almost every single punctuation mark I put into the essay, with the exception of exclamation point, question marks and periods obviously.  I am also going to start reading my essays backwards to see if I can catch anything that seems out of place or just completely wrong.  And hopefully after doing all of these things the final copy of the essay will not have any, or as many, mistakes as previous copies or essays.

Higher order concerns

On my new revised essay on Kamala Harris I plan to execute the higher order concerns by first watching the speech over and breaking down the speech in three aspects. The first thing Im gonna break down is the Main argument that Kamala Harris is trying to make to the people. Im going to see whats her point of interest and the words she uses to communicate.Next Im going to analyze the crowd and see who the majority of people are, Republican or democrat, White, Latino, or African American and the main purpose she's trying to give. I want to see how she delivers her message and the order she puts her speech in and weather or not it is effective. Even by examining the little details of the speech it could help get the main purpose of the speech out like, how she greets the people when she comes out and little things like that. It says that after reading the first couple of lines that the reader should know where the speech is going to go. I plan on making that kind of impact.These are the Main issues I want to address and I feel like if I execute these higher order concerns that I will have an effective essay.

Mit Romney appeals to pathos through everyone’s patriotism, putting everyone on the same level by calling us what we are, a nation of immigrants.  He talks about the freedoms of this country and how America is a symbol of a better life, evoking a strong sense of patriotism throughout the audience.  He talks about all of the hard times the American families are going through, where they were hoping that they could just get a little bit ahead, or put a little more into their children’s college fund.  He talks about the American spirit, the never quit attitude that has made this country great.  He talks about how when someone would lose their job that paid “$22.50 with benefits” they would take on TWO jobs at less because that is what they needed to do for their family, they did NOT quit, but instead they worked harder to provide for their families because they is what they needed to do.  He evokes a strong sense of patriotism from the audience by appealing to their emotions through their struggles, and through their actions of what they need to do.  He appeals to the concern of people when they are at the gas pump and watch the price hit $50 and just keep going.  He using emotion, a strong sense of patriotism here, to sway the people to vote for him.
