Bound to buy article

When I was reading the Bound to buy article I realized that I would probably fit in two of the categories. The two categories are the Creature of (Bad) Habit and The Impulse Buyer (and Frequent Regretter). I probably spend too much money on fast food, drinks, and lottery tickets. I also by things randomly that I like or think I need. I’m not sure why I buy the stuff. It’s like something in my head tells me that I should buy it. For an example I like to buy movies that I don’t own and I like to buy clothes that I like. I try to think about whether I should buy the stuff or not but it doesn’t always help. I think the creature of (bad) habit is caused because we get addicted to buying they stuff even though we know that they are bad for us. An example is fast food because sometimes it’s easier to buy it then making dinner and sometimes like on trips it’s more accessible than anything else. Another example is the lottery tickets and the only reason we buy them is the chance of winning the money that they offer for buying them.

  1. I have a friend that literally buys any dvd that he does not own. He has over one thousand now and I am sure has not watched over at least two hundred of them. Your post made me think of him "something in my head tells me that I should buy it" that sounds just like him. His collection takes up a full wall in his house and he is very proud of it. The only thing that worries me is he has it in alphabetical order.

  2. What I am saying is in most cases there are better way to spend our money, and use our natural recourses. I believe in sustainability which means using our natural resource with considering that next generations need to use them too. Therefore, my advice is to pay more attention to any single thing that we are going to buy, and ask these questions from themselves: am I really need this item? In which way it was made? Where did the material come from? For example I really like this fact that some women pay more attention to the place that a diamond of their engagement ring came from more than size of the diamond, or some people don’t like to shop at Wal-Mart no matter how cheap its stuff is because they believe workers do not paid fair enough
