“Bound to Buy: The Ten Types of Consumers that Overspend”

After reading the "Bound to Buy" article, I have realized that personally, I am "the impulse buyer" but I am not necessarily a "frequent regretter." I usually weigh my options before my purchase. I love to buy others gifts, including gag gifts. My motivation, most of the time, is that I want more, like almost every American. I can walk in my closet full of clothing and decide I have absolutely nothing to wear. Which is of course completely untrue but, this is my mentality and the mentality of many girls at the age of nineteen. My motivation for buying things like regular gifts and gag gifts is to have the enjoyment of someone's reaction, I enjoy seeing others happy. Occasionally I can be "the early adopter," especially with my iPad. Once I received the iPad two, I had to have everything that went along with it, including a key board and several different cases, not to mention all of the "useful" apps such as angry birds and paper toss. My motivation was that I wanted to have eye catching materials as well as the tools to make my life easier. So, my motivation seems to also put me in the "preemptive replacer" category because I wanted to have something "shiny, new, and impressive." Apparently I am an over spender, who knew?
