Contemporary media is encouraging children to grow up too fast
In today's media there are hundreds of televisions shows, sites and videos out there. Each have negative and positive effects on children. The argument is made that media can manipulate children to grow too fast. Kids who are 5 know more about computers than the average teenager from the 90's. Mobile devices seem to keep, kids and their parents at a distance, and these kids seem to not want to spend as much time outside. But saying that media is what makes kids grow of faster is a little much. In reality school is what makes kids grow up at an alarming rate. Kids are told from day one that they need to work hard to get a good job in the future and to get a good job they need to go to college. And if they don't go to school they are going to pretty much fail at life. Elementary teachers, while they do give the students some creative liberty, seem very stern with their students and teach them to do exactly what their superiors say say. By the time high school come around the kids either fit into several divisions, the smart kids who choose to work hard, the ones to choose not to work to their full capability, or the ones who just choose not apply themselves, the ones who think they who think they can't get into college and don't try. While these aren't all the divisions, these make up the majority. Growing up too fast is mostly the result of education and parental supervision, and yes some can be linked to media, media is not the main source of this.
