The traditional lecture method of education has a number of problems. For example the lecture method does not usually keep the students involved and students may miss, or misinterpret certain notes. In addition this leads to many students only being involved in the class for work related purposes. A "I'm only taking this class for the credit, but because its interesting or its a career I'm interested in" is the kid of mind set many students have in these kinds of classes. Making lectures available as podcasts, however, this method takes away the tediousness of lectured classes. There are three reason this teaching method should be adopted. One reason is that kids can miss the class without having miss the classes content, though this can also be a bad thing. Another reason is that the lecture can be rewound so that the student can focus on parts may have missed writing down or didn't understand. Finally, it makes the whole experience easier and more convenient for students overall. For these reasons I believe podcasts should be utilized throughout all colleges and even for High schools.
I completely agree with you, sometimes you just do not understand the way the instructor said something and you may have to listen to it over and over again to get it. Or if you are just bored by the thought of HAVING to sit through a lecture you could not pay as much attention as you should
