DP: Mystic River Review
The film "Mystic River" in my opinion was beautifully written and filled with suspense and mystery from the very beginning. I really enjoyed the way the plot unfolded right in front of the viewers eyes. Clint Eastwood the director of the film worked hard to fit the plot together. I felt as though Dave's life could have been spared in many ways, but the story was filmed with so much lies and deception. For the most part I felt as though the movie was very intriguing and kept my attention. In the film the use of dark lighting gave the movie a depressing atmosphere. The director used parallel scenes throughout the film for example in the scene were Jimmy was about to murder Dave, Brendan Harris had just found out his mute brother and friend had actually murdered his girlfriend. By using this film tool the movie director adds more suspense because two separate things are occurring at the same time. Overall I thought the film was very interesting and also kept the audience guessing who the killer could actually be. In the end we all found out the shocking truth that Brendan's brother was the killer. I believe it stunned everyone because the prime suspect was Dave. In closing I think the movie is a must watch and is sure to keep the audience guessing.
