"Youre a Wizard"

  • Write a response to Exercise 14.8 on page 414 of PA.
    • Yes.
    • The books have sold millions of copies so somebody must have thought they were good.
    •  Harry Potter does deserve some recognition not only because they are innovative but because of who wrote them. JK Rowling was at a troubled time in her life and was in quite the financial situation. But on a bus ride she hatched the idea of Harry Potter. This is a true rags to riches story and proves that anyone can accomplish their dreams if they put in the time and effort.

  1. I agree with most of what you have said, the books do deserve their popularity, but i do not know where you got that she got the idea on a bus ride....."After leaving university I worked in London; my longest job was with Amnesty International, the organisation that campaigns against human rights abuses all over the world. But in 1990, my then boyfriend and I decided to move up to Manchester together. It was after a weekend's flat-hunting, when I was travelling back to London on my own on a crowded train, that the idea for Harry Potter simply fell into my head." thats from her biography, but thats just a little random fact

  2. Yeah, I've always wondered how she got the idea on a bus ride. Maybe that's also a bit of fiction? Who knows! I definitely feel that the books do deserve their popularity - in some way, they are very relate-able to most children and also become more challenging as the books progress (as most kids become better readers as they grow older).
