Mystic River Review

             I like the mystic river movie because it was challenging and unpredictable, and has a strong plot. After all, this is specificity of movies with the crime genre. I could not guess what is going to happen at the end of the movie and this makes me to stick with movie the whole time. The fact that movie has strong main actors like Sean Penn and Laurence Fishburne, makes the movie even more attractive for me. I don’t really believe that the movie has an open ending .For me, it was obvious that at the end of movie Sean (the investigator friend) found out about the crime that Jimmy committed and, he will punish jimmy for that. I think the level of the Drama of the movie is a little too much and unrealistic because it would be so rare that three kids that were friends in their childhood, later get involved in such a drama, one’s daughter get murderer, one’s turn to be the investigator of the case, and the other one be the suspected of the murder case. The colors of the movie were interesting for me. The strong use of blue and dark colors was match with the pain and sadness of the movie. It sends the message to audience that it would be a painful drama coming up. Something that caught my attention on the movie was different reaction of two wives. Dave’s wife lost faith on his husband and accused him for murder of Jimmy’s daughter even though she was not one hundred percent sure ,but Jimmy’s wife support him emotionally even though she was sure that her husband killed an innocent person.
