Bambi

A Visual posted on nytimes.com shows a deer looking like a robber that is stealing food. The visual makes a powerful statement about the effect that white tailed deer have on the bird population. Its images show a picture that try to make deer the bad guy in the situation. At first glance, the photographer's goal seems to be to make a statement on what he/ she thinks of deer. The photo's stark images support this position. For example, what the animal has on, and what its eating. A note that accompanies the photo states that the deer are what are causing the low amount of birds. Still, the impact from this can cause a lot of argument.

  1. Uh ok I completely understand what you are saying and you are right. The image does make a powerful statement about how the white tailed deer can affect the population of the birds by eating the vegetation where they would normally nest. But as far as the Week 5 Discussion Posts go analyzing the visual aspects of the image from this essay was not a question. You were supposed to analyze the rhetorical value of the essay itself using the pages in the Practical Argument textbook. But other than that you are right about the impact and analysis of the image from that essay.

  2. I think you got the right idea about the visual image. Maybe you could have added in more on what the writer had to say about the problem and solution on the essay. Also how effective did you think the writer was with the essay. I forgot exactly what page it was but they did have a lay out of how to write it. It'll probably make it a whole lot easier for you. I have problems with it too.

  3. Nice job bringing up the impact of a visual image, you were right, but I feel your argument could have been much stronger had you included more support.
