First Body Paragraph
The appeal to pathos was evident throughout Kerry Healy’s entire speech. In the beginning of her speech she spoke about Massachusetts losing hope for its future as a state because the unemployment rate was sky rocketing. She went on to talk about how Mitt Romney restored not only the hope for a brighter future but, safe guarded the people living in the state. “Mitt Romney is a good and honorable man,” states Healy. Clearly she is trying to appeal to the emotions of her audience when she speaks of his honorability. Healy emphasizes that Romney focuses on those in need instead of himself even on the day of his inauguration for Governor of the state of Massachusetts. She uses key words such as hope and pride to reinforce her ideas. Finally, Healy discusses Romney’s family values and his ability to live them every day. The appeal to pathos is a strong tool used within this speech. The appeal is very effective because Healy knows how to influence her audience with her appeal to emotions because she is speaking to an audience in favor of her argument that Mitt Romney should become President of the United States of America.
