Block 1: Questions for Responding to Visual Arguments

The above visual comes from thoughtquestions.com and its target audience would be predominately introspective people. I think this visual was made for a friendly audience. The creator of the visual isn’t directly listed on the website, but the website thoughtquestions.com produces visuals intended to make the audience think and self-reflect. The issue the visual is addressing is self-deprecating behavior and how sometimes people treat others better than themselves. The visual is taking a position that suggests that people need to ease up on themselves instead of being so hard on themselves. This is clear because the wording suggests that if other people treated you as poorly as you treat yourself, that you wouldn’t keep them around implying that it’s a negative behavior. I agree with this opinion. The words are integral to the visual itself, without them it’d be difficult to understand exactly what the girl sitting alone looking pensive means. The visual doesn’t seem to be a refutation and I believe it’s a very effective visual.

  1. Everyone is hard on themselves from time to time and the ad is some what right. I would want friends that told me what they think no matter if it hurt.
