Week 4: Template for writing a Rhetorical Analysis "Michelle Obama"

Michelle Obama begins her speech by talking about her experiences as being first lady for the past 4 years. She admires the american spirit that she's seen all over the U.S. and the bravery of the American troops who fight for our country. She states "Everyday I meet people who inspire me and make me proud". Mrs. Obama appeals to the patriotic and talks about her husband as a humble man who she knew would be a great president. Her purpose is to show the American people how she and her husband were raised and how they learned about working hard for success. In her speech Mrs.Obama addresses all the many accomplishments and issues her husband, President Obama has helped resolve. For example, increasing student aid, lowering interest rates, equaling men and womens wages and made it possible for most minimum wage families to have healthcare. In general Mrs.Michelle Obama is trying to reveal to the american citizens why her husband is the better canidate for president in the 2012-2013 election. She refutes this argument by stating all the special qualities her husband possess. Finally, Mrs.Obama concludes her speech by appealing to pathos. She captured the entire audience by talking about giving future generations the oppurtunity to make their dreams come true. The emotion showed as they cheered her on with tears running down many of their faces. Overall, the argument Mrs.Obama made was very effective because she showed all the great work her husband has done and wants to finish if he is given another 4yrs. She appealed to her audiences emotions and showed why she believes her husband, President Barack Obama deserves another term.
