first body paragraph Charlie Crist

Charlie Crist appeals to ethos by showing how Obama is a caring man, a man that is fighting for his country and his people. Helping the people that needs help is his primary goal. He uses a term that was told to him by his father during his college football playing years, “it takes a cool head to win a hot game”. He explains on how our country is in the middle of a very hot game and our president always kept his head cool and figures out what play to do to win this game. Charlie explains how Obama is the type of person to help everyone, he has no favored. Crist stated that, as former republican he honored and respected Obama for his caring quality. Many has tried to stop Obama but his courage held him high. Agreeing with Obama on everything was not the case but most of his decisions were often the best. He is a man that sees future for his country.

  1. First of all this is a very strong paragraph. But I think most of the examples you have provided are more examples of pathos rather than ethos. Pathos is an appeal to emotion whereas, ethos is an appeal to authority. Where you wrote about the needs of people and helping people my mind went straight to pathos. I think this is a very strong supportive paragraph but maybe you should reevaluate your examples and wonder if they are really appeals to ethos or rather they are appeals to pathos.

  2. I am agreed with Shelby. This is a very complete paragraph with lots of supporting details;however, all the details that you mentioned are appealed to pathos.Encouraging, helping other people with no desire, carrying man,etc are all example of appeals to pathos. In my opinion, all of the Hollywood stars and athletics who are in favor of a specific parties are the practical example of appeal to ethos.By supporting one parties's side they send this message to audience that because they are taking that side, that would be the best choice to vote for.

  3. I disagree with the previous poster. I think you did a great job in choosing ethos, as it can also be used as an appeal to credibility and Charlie Christ is definitely credible. The reference to football is another great use of ethos and NOT pathos because as a football-loving country, we know, understand, and trust the rules of the game, therefore it makes it easy to understand the president's position.
