Week 4 Block 1

  • This advertisement appeared on koikoikoi.com and the target audience is teenagers that are sexually active.
  • This advertisement was created for neutral people. Just those they may not use condoms.
  • The DCSF (Department for Children, Schools & Families) created this campaign is order to prevent teenage unprotected sex among many other campaigns that protect the youth and families.
  • This picture is addressing teenage unprotected sex.
  • This ad's position is that you should ALWAYS use a condom while having sex or don't have sex at all. You can tell because of the phrase written on the wall "GET TALKED ABOUT. DON'T USE A CONDOM.". This basically says that if you don't use a condom and you get pregnant, people will be talking about you. Yes, I agree with the position.
  • Yes they are necessary, see the point above. The words are perfect because they sum up the picture along with the graffiti mouths.
  • Many teenagers think it is okay to have unprotected sex but they may get pregnant or get a sexually transmitted disease and this picture argues against it.
  • This visual is unattractive because the people who made this don't want people to do it. It is very interesting and appealing to the teenage eye because of the graffiti and the girl. And yes, it is very convincing.

  1. This ad definitely appeals to emotions, because it tries to scare its audience. The graphic designs on the wall, the text, and the regretful girl in the image all are evidence of this approach. In my opinion, the ad is certainly affective because it could scare its audience and get them to use condom. I am agreed that audience are mostly teenagers and ,the fact about teenagers is that they are more involved with their emotion than with their logic, so the ad could even be more affective according to type of audience. The color in the ad is mostly dark colors which are an element help to create a scary image; however, the girl in the ad uses pink color for her cloth and shoes which represent her young age. In addition, the fact that the girl is the only person in the ad represents that a pregnant teenager is going to be helpless and lonely.

  2. This ad is definitely effective. The laughing mouths all around the alley were the first thing that caught my eye. I almost didn't notice the person seated in the front with their head in their hands. It's definitely appealing to the youth generation, grafiti, bright colors, etc. The implied peer pressure in the words definitely brings this whole thing together.

  3. Ha-ha I don’t disagree that the advertisement is effective, however some teenagers want to be talked about I had the unfortunate experience of watching that teen mom show a few weeks back. It seems like some of the teens today want the attention and want to be pregnant.

  4. This ad is sending a message that if you get pregnant as a teen you will be talked about. The visual also has a dark feel. It looks like some kind of a train station of some sort. I would say it is effective because you have the girl sitting down with her head in her face like she regrets what has happened. I agree with your outline.

  5. The words definitely stand out because it is not something everyone feels comfortable with the subject. Along with the laughing mouths all around it absolutely catches the readers eye. Eventually i noticed the girl squatting, you can tell she feels regrets and remorse. The scene is very dark but speaks many words
