The advertisement pictured above is from the World Child Foundation. The target audience is anyone who is a legal adult. The advertisement itself is regarding sexual child abuse, statutory rape, and pedophilia. Visually the promotion shows an adult women who is clearly of age playing with adolescent toys suited for a child. The women in the photo seems to have replaced what should be a child who is under the legal age of consent. The perception taken from the photographers viewpoint almost appears that someone with scandalous intent sees the child that should be in this photograph as something that she is not matured enough for by any means. You could further add on that the viewpoint this photograph was taken from seems to be some form of voyeurism from a pedophile. The ad sends a strong message hostilely showing that not all adults view children the same way. Visually shocking, the advertisement makes parents think twice about if their child is safe at all times. The words that are accompanying the photo are necessary to tie together what the whole image itself means. Without the keywords of "Some people look at a child and don't see a child" we wouldn't understand why a women would be picking up toys in such a risque way. I agree with the advertisements message completely. It is shocking at how sick some people are, yet it is a danger we need to look out for as future parents and family members.
Ok first off that image is very…..”interesting” in a certain way I guess but mostly it is just kind of disturbing to be honest. And yes I do not think there is anyone in their right mind who would disagree with this. People who actually view children like this are truly, truly sick in quite a few meanings of the word. It makes me sad to think that there are actually people like this is the world but no matter how much I hate it I know I will always have to be on the lookout for people like this.
ReplyDeleteWhen I took a first look at this visual I did not understand what was going on. But after reading your visual argument it makes sense. I think you did a good job at making your points and analyzing the visual. The visual is effective because It gets the point across with the women in the picture with kids clothes on playing with children's toys.
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job of explaining the add. I now have a better understanding of the ad, an understanding I did not have upon seeing the picture. Great job on the explanation and great job shedding light toward an issue that needs more attention.
